Today is a special day for 170 million workers in the EU. It’s the first anniversary of the EU’s new Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work.
Launched by the European Commission on 28 June 2021, it sets out the actions needed to protect the health and safety of workers in a post-pandemic world.
The focus is on anticipating and managing change, improving prevention of workplace accidents and illnesses, and increasing preparedness for potential future health crises.
EU-OSHA Interim Executive Director William Cockburn highlights the work being done by EU-OSHA to implement this ambitious framework. ’EU-OSHA has and will continue to play a vital implementation role by facilitating action, cooperation and exchange among its extensive network of partners,’ he writes in an article published in the EU Parliament Magazine, EU strategy protects workers’ safety and health in today’s changing world of work.
